Mohammad Ali Mosque – Eydhafushi Island, Maldives | Mihrab Muqarnas Panel in Mosaic Tile (Moarragh)

This page features the custom-designed Muqarnas panel created by Eitile exclusively for the Mihrab of the Mohammad Ali Mosque in the Eydhafushi Island zone, Maldives. Crafted using a precision-cut wooden mould and covered with handmade mosaic tiles (Moarragh tiles), this Muqarnas structure serves as the focal point of the mosque’s prayer niche, enhancing its spiritual and architectural significance. The design combines traditional Persian tile artistry with the structural geometry of Islamic Muqarnas, resulting in a breathtaking, three-dimensional ceiling ornament above the Mihrab. Each Moarragh tile was hand-glazed, cut, and assembled to form intricate patterns in harmony with the sacred space’s aesthetic. This project reflects Eitile’s dedication to preserving Islamic architectural heritage while delivering custom Muqarnas solutions for religious landmarks around the world.
